How to use character, place and object sheets
Sheets are how Inkroost remembers what your cast, locations and recurring objects look like. Write them once, give them a picture, and every page that names them draws them the same way.
A drawing has no memory of the page before it. Sheets are the memory. Each one describes something that has to look the same every time: a character, a place the story keeps returning to, or an object like a phone or a sword.
Where sheets live
Open your series and go to Series info, then Characters, places and props. Press Add a character to write one yourself, or let Inky write them for you while it plans your pages.
What to write on a character sheet
Write what makes them recognisable, not what makes them interesting:
- Hair: length, colour, style, parting.
- Eyes: colour and shape.
- Skin and build.
- Usual outfit.
- Anything distinctive: a scar, glasses, a hat they never take off.
"A cool ninja girl" drifts. "Spiky black hair with an uneven fringe, sharp brown eyes, torn white gi, scar over the left eyebrow" holds. Personality notes are for you; the drawing only needs the look.
Give the sheet a picture
Press Draw the sheet to get a reference drawing of the character in your series' look. A picture carries far more than words, and it is what keeps a face steady from page to page. Drawing a sheet costs credits; the price shows before you press.
Places and objects
Locations and props drift for the same reason faces do. A shopfront gets redesigned in every establishing shot unless it is written down. Give each one a sheet with what it looks like, and add the short names your story uses ("the shop", "her phone") so they are picked up when you write them.
How a sheet reaches the page
You do not attach sheets to pages. When a page's text names a character, place or object, its sheet goes in automatically. Writing "Ren pulls the door shut" is enough to bring in Ren's sheet.
If you upload your own pages
Inkroost reads uploaded chapters and suggests sheets from them for free, marked From your pages. Anything you already wrote is never replaced.
When a page still comes back wrong
Use Fix an area to circle the part that is wrong and redraw just that, or Check continuity to find the pages in a chapter that drifted from your sheets.
