The Pro Studio editor: a lighthouse page with three slanted panels, its layers listed on the left and the Draw a panel card on the right

Watch a page come together

A real chapter, built in Pro Studio: panels found, a character lifted onto his own layer, a frame slanted, a new pose and the lettering.

What the film shows

The film has music and no voice. Its on-screen words and pictures, in order:

  1. A stormy sea is drawn straight into an empty panel frame.
  2. Pro Studio: build every page, panel by panel.
  3. A finished page is uploaded to a chapter and opened in Pro Studio, which finds its panels.
  4. A panel is taken apart: the character becomes his own layer.
  5. He is moved and enlarged, and the gap behind him is painted in.
  6. A frame is slanted by dragging its corner.
  7. A panel is described and the AI model for it is picked from the list.
  8. Elias gets a new pose and keeps his face, hair and coat.
  9. A thought bubble is lettered on the page.
  10. Two pages before and after Pro Studio.

A comic layout and panel editor, with AI where you want it

Every panel is a frame you place and every drawing is a layer you control. These are screenshots of real pages being made.

Four panel frames on a page, two with slanted borders, being adjusted in Pro Studio

Layout templates and slanted panels

Start from a ready-made page layout or draw your own frames. Split, merge, set the gutters, run a panel off the page edge, and drag a corner to slant a border. Save a layout you like and use it again.

The Draw a panel card with its list of image models open and the price on the Draw button

Your pick of AI model, panel by panel

Choose from more than 40 image models for each drawing. The price in credits is shown before you draw, and a drawing that fails costs nothing.

A page with a lighthouse and a close-up of a man, with each drawing listed as its own layer

Draw layer by layer

Draw a whole panel, or one part at a time: the background, a character, a prop, the effects. Each part is its own layer you can move, resize, flip, hide or draw again without touching the rest.

A character lifted out of his panel and moved, with the stairwell behind him painted in

Take a panel apart into layers

Pick a panel and Pro Studio lifts each character, object and effect onto its own see-through layer, and paints the background in behind them. Move anyone and no hole is left.

The new pose window with mannequin poses such as fighting stance, kicking, aiming and sitting

A new pose, the same character

Choose one of 25 poses, from running and sword slashes to sitting or a close-up, or describe one in your own words. The character keeps the face, hair and outfit from their sheet.

A thought bubble being typed onto a page of a lighthouse in a storm

Speech bubbles and captions

Letter the page with the same editor as the Creator Studio. Bubbles stay on top of every layer and stay editable in both studios.

  • An asset library with sheets

Add characters, props and places once. Each upload is read into a sheet, so the next drawing keeps them on model.

  • An assistant and a consistency watcher

Ask it to plan a page. After each save it checks the page against your sheets and the pages before it.

  • Undo and redo

Step back through the last 50 changes to a page, even after a reload.

  • Works with the Creator Studio

A Pro page is an ordinary page of your chapter. Open any page in Pro from its menu, and back again.

  • Export for print and Kindle

The Amazon KDP bundle carries Kindle ebooks and a print-ready interior and cover wrap. PDF, EPUB and CBZ too.

  • Help on every screen

Ask Inky how anything in Pro Studio works. It knows the page and panel you have open.

Bring your own pages

Drawing by hand? Pro Studio is for you too. Hand-drawn and AI-made comics are equally welcome on Inkroost, and you can use AI for a single panel, or not at all.

  • Upload a finished page and Pro Studio finds its panels, slanted borders included.
  • Add your drawings, photos or textures as layers, onto the page or into one panel.
  • Keep your characters, props and places in the asset library, each on its own sheet.
  • Publish to your readers on Inkroost, or export the chapter for print and e-readers.

Before and after

Two pages of The Lighthouse Keeper. Drag across each page to compare.

Page 1 after: a lighthouse on the left and Elias in the corner thinking “Storm again…” Page 1 before: a stormy sea drawn into the first panel, with an empty second frame Before After
Page 1: a background drawn into an empty frame, then the lighthouse and Elias added as layers and lettered.
Page 12 after: the same page with slanted frames and Elias larger in the last panel Page 12 before: four square panels of Elias climbing down a lighthouse stairwell Before After
Page 12: the last panel taken apart, Elias moved and enlarged, and the frames slanted around him.

How it works

Three steps, and you see the price of every drawing before you make it.

  1. 1

    Lay out the page

Pick a layout template, draw your own frames, or upload a page and let Pro Studio find its panels.

  2. 2

    Fill every panel

Draw with the AI model you pick, layer by layer, or place your own art and assets from the library.

  3. 3

    Letter it and publish

Add speech bubbles and save. The page shows in the reader, in the Creator Studio and in every export.

Questions creators ask

Is Pro Studio an AI comic generator?

It is a comic page editor. You decide the layout, the frames and every layer, and AI is one of your tools: use it for one panel, one character or a whole page, or build pages from your own drawings with no AI at all.

Do I need a plan to use Pro Studio?

No. Pro Studio is open to every creator with a free Inkroost account. You pay per drawing with credits, at the price shown before each one. Plans give you more credits for less: Creator at $11.50 a month with 450 credits; Studio at $22.99 a month with 1,000 credits.

Can I use my own drawings?

Yes. Upload a finished page and Pro Studio finds its panels, slanted borders included, or upload drawings as layers. Characters, props and places you add to the asset library become sheets, so any AI drawing you do ask for keeps them on model.

How much does an AI drawing cost?

Each model shows its price in credits before you draw, and you pay per picture. If a drawing fails, every credit comes back. Planning a page with the Assistant, checking consistency and lettering cost nothing.

Does it work for manga and webtoons?

Yes. Number panels right to left for manga, set the page size for comics, manga or webtoon pages, and export a webtoon strip sliced for vertical-scroll platforms.

Can I export my comic for Amazon KDP?

Yes. A Pro page is an ordinary page of your chapter, so it goes into every export: the Amazon KDP bundle with Kindle ebooks and a print-ready interior and cover wrap, plus PDF, EPUB, CBZ and page images.

Do I need a computer?

Pro Studio needs a computer or a tablet. On a phone you can look at your Pro pages, but not edit them.

Who owns the pages?

You do. Your series stays yours, and so does every page you build in Pro Studio.

Ready to build your pages?

Lay out a page, fill its panels your way, and share it with readers.
