Mature storytelling, yes. Pornography, no.

Last updated: 9 August 2026 · Version 2026-08-09

Inkroost is built for serious stories, and serious stories go to dark and adult places. Violence, grief, addiction, desire and heartbreak all belong here. What does not belong here is pornography — art whose purpose is explicit sexual content rather than storytelling. Read the three lists below before you spend credits on pages, and you will never be surprised at moderation.

Allowed — pick the rating that fits

These are normal parts of storytelling. Rate them honestly and publish them.

  • Mature story themes: violence, death, grief, war, addiction, abuse handled as narrative.
  • Romance, attraction, longing, and kissing.
  • Suggestive scenes that stay within the rating you chose — a fade to black, a shared bed, an implied morning after.
  • Swimwear, underwear, bathing and hot-spring scenes framed the way a mainstream published manga would frame them.
  • Horror, body horror and gore, so long as it is not sexualised.

Mature rating only — allowed, but gated

These need the Mature rating on the series. They are reviewed case by case, and they are hidden from logged-out readers behind an age confirmation.

  • Non-explicit artistic nudity, where the nudity serves the scene rather than the viewer.
  • Non-graphic sexual implication: a scene that clearly happened without being drawn.
  • Sustained sexual tension and adult relationships written for adult readers.

Never allowed on Inkroost

No rating unlocks these. Submitting them wastes your credits and your time — moderation will reject the chapter.

  • Explicit sexual acts, drawn or implied in graphic detail.
  • Pornographic framing: art composed so the sexual content is the point of the page.
  • Minors, or characters who read as young, in any sexual context whatsoever.
  • Non-consensual sexual content, including scenes framed as titillating.
  • Sexual content involving animals, or exploitative sexual content of any kind.

If you are not sure

  • If you are unsure whether a scene fits, write it as the camera pulling away. It reads better and it always passes.
  • Pick your series rating before you generate pages. It is the single biggest thing moderation checks against.
  • A rejection is not a strike. Revise the pages and resubmit — most rejected chapters are approved on the second pass.

Content ratings

Every series carries a rating you choose. Moderation checks your artwork against the rating you declared, so an honest rating is the single easiest way to get approved on the first pass.

All ages

Safe for everyone. No sexual content, no graphic violence.

Teen

Teen and up. Action violence, mild language, romance without explicit content.

Mature

Adults. Strong violence, dark themes, and non-explicit artistic nudity or implied sexual content. Hidden from logged-out readers behind an age confirmation.

How we check

Will Inkroost ever allow explicit work?

Not today, and not by accident. If that ever changes it will be a separate, clearly labelled adult mode with its own controls and its own opt-in — never a quiet loosening of the rules above. Until then, please publish explicit work elsewhere.
