The holy city of Seirenhold stands on the rim of a bottomless chasm, sealed shut by the vows of its founding saints, and every citizen swears a Vow at sixteen to gain power for a price. Kyo Amagiri buries the city's dead for a living. Then he finds that the coffins he lowers are empty, and something at the bottom of the Abyss calls him by name. The world was built on a lie, and the truth is hungry.
