Panel 1: Night. LIZZIE BENNET sits on the bedroom window seat with her knees drawn up and one arm around her shins, looking out at the blue-lit street. On the sill beside her, her phone lies face-down — only its plain dark back is visible. A lamp glows warm on the nightstand behind her. LIZZIE (thought): 'If Charles is back... is he?' Panel 2: Extreme close-up of Lizzie's dark-brown eyes and the freckles across her cheeks, cool window light caught in them, her expression suspended between hope and dread. LIZZIE (thought): 'And I can never tell a single soul what he did.'
