WYOMING / 05. Jack: “Can you tell me when the septic tank was serviced?” Attendant: “I'd tell you if I knew.” SFX: WHEEE-KLUNK. Jack: “I'm stopping right here.” REPAIR CARD #05 — WYOMING. Attendant, on phone: “Yeah, I need a plumber out here. It's a septic tank. Yeah, as soon as you can.” Radio: “…five states and counting—” Jack: “That station never finishes a song.”

Jack sets out in his pea-green 1974 Buick Apollo. From Illinois to Idaho, he warns each stop, makes repairs where he can and leaves a repair card. A museum post starts connecting the dots while Jack keeps driving.
