WYOMING / 05. Jack: “Can you tell me when the septic tank was serviced?” Attendant: “I'd tell you if I knew.” SFX: WHEEE-KLUNK. Jack: “I'm stopping right here.” REPAIR CARD #05 — WYOMING. Attendant, on phone: “Yeah, I need a plumber out here. It's a septic tank. Yeah, as soon as you can.” Radio: “…five states and counting—” Jack: “That station never finishes a song.”

At a wind-swept service station, Jack asks about septic service. A toilet stalls and a vent rattles. The attendant calls a plumber while Jack changes a dashboard radio to a cassette before a report about his fifth stop finishes.
