At 3 A.M. the shop's automatic sliding door stops opening for Kaito, though it opens for Rin, a drifting plastic bag and the waiting dog. Kaito spirals into wondering whether he has quietly stopped existing, until Rin and Tetsu work out that he simply moves too little for the sensor to notice. At dawn, slouching out at the end of his shift, the door finally swings wide for him: it just wants him to go home.

A convenience store is open at night, with shelves, a counter, refrigerators, and drink displays. A young male clerk with messy dark hair, a striped apron, and a plastic shopping bag walks toward the glass entrance, then stands still facing the door. A speech bubble reads: “…” He looks at his reflection in the glass. Text: “3:04 A.M. Bin run.” Clerk: “Hello?”

Page 2

At the glass entrance of a brightly lit store, a young woman with a light bob and a striped apron walks past a messy-haired male clerk holding a plastic bag. She carries a flat rectangular item. She says, “Recycling.” In the following views, the clerk stands by the glass doors, then faces the entrance from inside while a plastic bag lies on the wet pavement outside. A close view shows the bag on the pavement. The clerk points toward it and shouts, “For a BAG?!”

Page 3

Kaito stands by the glass doors with his arms raised; a plastic bag rests on the floor nearby. He jumps and says, “Hup.” He knocks on the glass and says, “Excuse me.” Inside the store, he crouches near the entrance, then lunges across the floor shouting, “OPEN!” At the counter, Rin rests a hand beside her phone and says, “I’m not filming this. Out of respect.”
