Chapter 1: The First Light Goes Out · 第 1 章
从左到右
/
Maya stands among students in a grand academy hall, looking at a dark cracked orb among glowing lights before writing in her notebook, while a silver-haired woman watches from the balcony.
Maya, holding a notebook and pencil, questions classmates in a crowded school hall, then writes beside a window while other students pass behind her.
Maya enters a tall hall, examines a frost-covered dark sphere through a magnifying glass, then crouches to inspect frost trails across the tiled floor.

In the hall, Maya asks Kenji, who is carrying a stack of books: “The Dreamlights in the Great Hall. How many did you see this morning?” Kenji replies, “Uh... six? There have always been six.” A braided girl asks, “Six! Why, is it a quiz?” Ren, a blond student with glasses, says, “A seventh? Never heard of one.” Maya thinks, “Not forgotten. Erased.” Maya writes in her notebook: “Everyone remembers six. Except me. Tonight I look closer.”

Maya: “Midnight. No witnesses.” Maya: “Frost. In a room with no cold air.” Maya: “And it walked away.”
