The elf woman in flowing red, the hooded reptilian fighter carrying a large bag, and the young guide walk away together down the sunlit alley, leaving the bruised brigands on the cobblestones. An overhead view shows them rejoining the busy streets. The final panorama looks across the sprawling Imperial City and its canals. Caption: “In the Imperial City… everyone learns street smarts.” End of Prologue.

About this chapter
Street Smarts opens with four brigands robbing a caravan outside the Imperial City. They head into the crowded festival streets with their loot, where an encounter with a streetwise local draws them into a city that isn’t quite as easy to navigate as they expect.
