3 A.M. A single fluorescent tube above aisle three flickers — but only when Kaito isn't looking straight at it. Certain the store is broken and unable to prove it, he burns the whole dead shift trying to catch the flicker in the act so maintenance will replace it: he drags over a ladder, interrogates customers whose testimony flatly contradicts each other, and finally tries to film it himself — at which point the tube goes innocent and steady every single time. Rin films his descent, offering the flat theory that maybe it only flickers because he's watching, like the fridge light. The tracksuit regular swears he's never seen it flicker; a salaryman swears it's flickering; a jogger swears it's rock steady. Near dawn Kaito gives up on catching it head-on and tries to trap it in the cooler-glass reflection, almost succeeding with a serene smile — then the morning delivery driver taps the tube once and it's fixed forever, and the doors slide open into daylight. Rin reveals she's been live the entire shift and caught the flicker cleanly in the very first hour; the clip of Kaito failing to catch a flicker plainly visible behind him wins the internet. He gets nothing; she gets four hundred thousand viewers. The store stands in spotless daylight exactly as it began — and as Kaito walks out, the tube gives one last tiny flicker, just for us.

A single wide establishing panel. It is night inside a 24-hour Japanese convenience store, seen straight down the main aisle from just inside the front sliding doors toward the register at the back. Shelves of drinks and snacks line both walls, glowing coolers stand at the far end, and long fluorescent tubes run along the ceiling — one tube directly above the aisle shows faint spark lines, as if it just flickered. Kaito, the tired clerk in a light shirt and dark striped apron (name tag KAITO), stands small behind the register. Rin, a small teenager in an oversized hoodie under her apron (name tag RIN), sits on a stool with a phone in her hand. The dark, empty street is visible through the windows. Kaito (thought): Three a.m. Nothing happens at three a.m.

Three panels. In the first, a close shot of Kaito behind the register, his tired eyes darting sideways as the ceiling tube behind him flickers with tiny spark and buzz lines. In the second, Kaito's head snaps fully upward — but the tube is now evenly lit, steady and innocent; a silent, tense beat. In the third, a two-shot at the counter: Kaito stares up with a finger half-raised in accusation while Rin, beside him, doesn't even glance up from her phone. Kaito: ...Did that light just— Kaito: It flickered. You saw that. Rin: I see my screen. That's it.

Four panels. Kaito leans over the counter, pointing up at the tube. Rin holds up her phone with a blank screen, unimpressed. Then Rin turns the phone to face down the aisle as if filming, bored. Finally Kaito, already turned away, glares up at the steady tube. Kaito: That tube is broken. I'm getting it replaced. Rin: Maintenance needs proof. A photo of it flickering. Kaito: Exactly. Evidence. Rin: I'm always rolling anyway. It's content. Kaito: Then we catch it together. Rin: We are not a 'we.'
