Page 1. A single wide panel. Late afternoon light comes through a square window into the Tiny Case Agency clubroom — a converted storage room full of cardboard boxes, a low wooden desk with a green notebook and a mug of pencils, a corkboard, and a small white mini-fridge in the corner. The mini-fridge door hangs open. The shelves inside are completely bare. Momo Hoshiya stands on a folding metal chair in front of it, tiny arms flung wide in horror, the hem of her too-big mustard-yellow coat dragging over the seat. Ganta Ueda sits on a stack of boxes nearby, hood up, sipping a pale-blue juice box, entirely unbothered. A small white cat with a grey ear and a pink bell collar watches from the floor. MOMO: "The pudding is gone."

Wide view of a small cluttered clubroom. A chibi girl in an oversized mustard-yellow coat stands on a folding chair with her arms flung wide in front of an open, completely empty mini-fridge, while a chibi boy in a mint-green cat-ear hoodie sits on cardboard boxes drinking a juice box. A small white cat sits on the floor.
About this chapter
The Tiny Case Agency's first official case: one pudding cup, purchased and refrigerated by Momo herself, is gone. She has a crumb trail, a prime suspect in a cat-ear hoodie, a paw print, and absolute certainty. Ganta has a juice box and one very short answer. The trail leads somewhere Momo really does not want it to lead.
