PAGE 13 Merel and Adai walk toward the distant city while Adai explains that travel time depends on the road’s behavior. VISIBLE TEXT: How long to the city? Six days. Or eleven. Depends on the road. It’s been generous lately.
Descripción de la imagen
Merel and Adai walk along the stone-spined road through vast hills while Adai listens to the road with her stick and Merel watches in offended disbelief.
Acerca de este capítulo
Merel Vosberg measures a four-and-a-half-metre land dispute in a Dutch polder and sees the world refuse her instrument. The flat farmland becomes Orran, a vast mountain world where Adai, a blind route-singer, guides roads by listening rather than measuring. Merel tests notebooks, paces, cairns, and road mood before reaching Ninefold, where impossible geography suddenly becomes exact.
