Panel 1: MRS. BENNET leans forward in her armchair, phone in one hand, in full conversational flow and delighted with herself. MRS. BENNET: 'And we've had a wedding in the family since you left!' Panel 2: LIZZIE BENNET frozen mid-sip, her mug halfway down, eyes going wide with horror. Panel 3: FITZWILLIAM DARCY in three-quarter profile at the window, charcoal overcoat, hands in his pockets, face completely unreadable. Panel 4: MRS. BENNET again, oblivious and thrilled, head tilted. MRS. BENNET: 'Lydia! Married! At seventeen!' Panel 5: MARY BENNET, glasses and headphones round her neck, deadpan in the corner with one finger at the bridge of her glasses. MARY: 'Statistically that is—' Panel 6: Close on LIZZIE in profile, eyes flicking sideways to the window where Darcy stands. LIZZIE (thought): 'He paid for all of it. And he'll never say a word.'
