Panel 1: Seen from inside the hall through the open front door — CHARLES BINGLEY, 27, tousled auburn hair, rust-coloured blazer over a cream t-shirt, beige chinos and white sneakers, stands on the step beaming, hands relaxed at his sides. BINGLEY: 'Hi. Sorry — I should have called first.' Panel 2: Behind Bingley, one step lower on the path, FITZWILLIAM DARCY, 29, tall and straight-backed, near-black hair swept back, charcoal-grey overcoat over a white shirt, both hands in his pockets. Cool daylight on him against the warm doorway. Panel 3: Tight close-up of LIZZIE BENNET — eyes wide, lips slightly parted, the floor gone out from under her. LIZZIE (thought): 'He came.' Panel 4: MRS. BENNET sweeps forward into the hall, delighted at Bingley, her smile cooling noticeably as her eyes slide past him to Darcy standing in the doorway. MRS. BENNET: 'Mr. Bingley! Come in, come in.'
