Panel 1: Seen from behind, LIZZIE BENNET stands alone in the open front doorway with one hand on the frame, silhouetted against the last warm light, watching a plain dark car pull away down the garden path. LIZZIE (thought): 'Not one word about any of it.' Panel 2: Inside the lamplit hall, MRS. BENNET turns to JANE in delight, her phone still in one hand. Jane stands flushed, hands folded in front of her, trying not to smile. MRS. BENNET: 'He could not take his eyes off you!'
