Transcript

Page 12. Two stacked panels, read top to bottom. No dialogue — total silence. Top panel: an extreme close-up of the rolled mustard-yellow cuff. One caramel-coloured pudding smear, dried into the fabric. Unmistakable. Bottom panel: Momo's face fills the frame. Her enormous amber eyes are blown wide, pupils shrunk to dots. Her cowlick droops. Her mouth is a tiny wobbling line. A single bead of sweat runs down her cheek. The magnifying glass hangs uselessly in front of her.

Image description

Two stacked wordless panels: an extreme close-up of a caramel smear dried into the rolled cuff of a mustard-yellow coat, and below it a chibi girl's face filling the frame, amber eyes blown wide in dawning horror.

About this chapter

The Tiny Case Agency's first official case: one pudding cup, purchased and refrigerated by Momo herself, is gone. She has a crumb trail, a prime suspect in a cat-ear hoodie, a paw print, and absolute certainty. Ganta has a juice box and one very short answer. The trail leads somewhere Momo really does not want it to lead.
