Transcript

Page 5. Two stacked panels, read top to bottom. Top panel: Ganta sips his pale-blue juice box, glances sideways completely deadpan, and points one stubby hand flatly toward Momo's big coat pocket. GANTA: 'It is your pocket.' Bottom panel: Momo stays nose-down sniffing the floor and waves her free hand dismissively without even looking at him, magnifying glass in her other hand, a curl of scent rising from her pocket. MOMO: 'A pocket is not a suspect. Hush.'

Two stacked panels. Top: a chibi boy in a cat-ear hoodie sips his juice box and points flatly toward the girl's coat pocket. Bottom: the chibi girl in a yellow coat stays nose-down sniffing the floor and waves him off without looking, magnifying glass in hand, a wisp of scent curling from her pocket.

About this chapter

A sweet citrus smell drifts through the Tiny Case Agency, and Momo is certain a perfumed intruder has slipped in. She sniff-tracks the phantom guest to the mini-fridge, to Biscuit, to the boxes — but the scent follows her wherever she goes, because it is coming from a warm mandarin orange she pocketed days ago and forgot. Ganta points at her coat pocket on page five. She runs right past him, corners the cat, and only cracks the case when she reaches into her own pocket and pulls out the culprit.
